Future Motion Quietly Releases Flat Footpads for GT
Without any fanfare, flat footpads for GT have been added to the accessories section on onewheel.com. We know that Kyle Doerksen himself has been rocking a prototype version of these for at least a month (when it was mentioned on the Oct 17 episode of the Onewheel podcast). The new footpads will set you back $150 + shipping, but if you aren’t in love with FM’s implementation of concave on GT, then this might be exactly what you’re looking for.
FlightFins Teaser: It Looks Like a New Tire is Coming for GT
It seems that Onewheel GT riders will finally have another tire option. GT sports a 6.5 inch rim (deviating from the standard 6 inch rim used by all other Future Motion products), which has made tire options very limited. Until the release of The Float Life’s Enduro, GT owners were stuck riding on the stock options from FM - one slick and one treaded. Reviews of the stock tires have not been great; many have been dissatisfied by the overly stiff side walls and the very rounded shape.
How to Sign the Official Petition to the CPSC
Future Motion has released an open letter to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), which has recently declared Onewheels to be unsafe to ride. Along with the open letter, Future Motion is asking riders to sign their petition that will be sent to the CPSC. There are only three steps and it takes just a few minutes.
Land Surf Announces Variable Ride Height System for GT
Land Surf, the company that produces and sells the much loved Fangs, has announced a new product which I’m really excited to get my feet on. The Variable Ride Height (VRH) system for GT promises to allow riders to raise and lower their board in less than a minute. Pre-orders are open now on land-surf.com and are slated to start shipping in mid-December.
United States CPSC Issues Safety Warning
Approaching very close to the worst case scenario for Future Motion (the designer and manufacturer of Onewheel) the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has warned Americans to stop buying and riding Onewheel devices. They claim to have received “at least four reported deaths between 2019 and 2021 and multiple reports of serious injuries after the product failed to balance the rider or suddenly stopped while in motion.”
What is Pushback? Future Motion Explains in New Video
Future Motion has released a video which addresses one of the main safety features of a Onewheel: pushback. As the video explains, this function is intended to warn a rider when they are approaching the limits of the board. Kyle Doerksen (CEO) and Jack Mudd (Marketing Director) both appear on camera to demonstrate the physics of a self-balancing vehicle and the reasoning behind pushback.
Welcome to The Spinning Magnet
Hello! My name is T.K. and I spend way too much of my time riding, repairing, building, and simply thinking about onewheels. So much, that I felt like it would be best to give myself a creative outlet related to my favorite sport. The website is pretty bare bones at the moment, but I have a lot of content planned for the future. So, welcome and please stay posted!
