Personal Experience

First impression of the GT Kush Wide was that concave felt really good and it’s really nice to have that extra space underneath the foot. After a few weeks of riding, I noticed that the extra realty was nice for bonks, body varials, shuvits - or any trick really. The soft urethane also really helped with foot fatigue on the longer cruises and the heel pains on big drops due to the stock footpad's sharp edges.

A neat feature is that the footpad comes in two colors: black and clear. I chose clear with the intention of dying it a different color. I purchased Rit Dyemore from a local craft shop (Michaels, Joanne Fabrics, Hobby Lobby, etc will have them) followed the instructions, and dyed the footpad a teal color (see pictures below). The footpad took to the dye very well and it was super easy. I think the final product looks great and it was surprisingly fun to do. If the dying process is too intimidating or inaccessible to you, not only a day later after my dye project, The Float Life released their Retro 64 Combo, which comes in several colors: Red, Orange Teal, and Purple.

While the Kush Wide is great for cruising and tricks, I purchased it with the hopes of alleviating the GT’s inherent “squirellyness”. Unfortunately, really tight turns on trails still felt a bit sketchy, but this might be due to the GT’s higher design compounded with the hard stock tire. I presume this problem could be fixed with the Half & Half Axel Block Lowering Kit and a GT Enduro Tire.

Who is the GT Kush Wide for?

This is for the rider who is searching for a more comfortable ride, someone with bigger feet, tricksters who can benefit from the added space for landings, and anyone who finds themselves with constant foot fatigue.
